For some people, the thought of an African safari with only two of the ‘big five’ showing up would be a pretty average experience. Yesterday, the tenth anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attack on America was certainly a day for reflection and remembrance; but the tragedy of the occasion was compounded even further for many in Britain and indeed worldwide by the news that a British couple had been attacked while holidaying in Kenya by suspected Somali militants who killed one man and then abducted his wife.
