Known as “the land of a million elephants” Laos is the epitome of Asian living, with rich culture and traditions offering paths less travelled for the adventurer within.
Laos is the secret of South East Asia, being one of the least populated countries in the region it still retains its ancient charm and treasures from days gone by. It is less developed than its Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese neighbours, and traditionally the most reserved.

Holidays in Laos
Holidays in Laos are a reminder that beautiful landscapes can still be discovered today.
Laos has a similarity with its neighbour Thailand with regard to cuisine, theology and language, producing vibrant food, beautiful heritage and welcoming people.
A mountainous, landlocked country, situated at the heart of South East Asia, Laos’ lifeline is the Mekong River that flows the length of the country, providing water for agricultural lands and a major means of transport.
Vientiane, the unassuming capital, is situated on its banks, and the city provides a comfortable introduction to the charms of the country. Laos’s most enticing destination is the town of Luang Prabang, the former royal kingdom, with a legacy of splendid golden temples and whitewashed houses.
An interesting history of French colonisation, internal conflicts and national communism chased much of Laos’ population away in the 70s and shut off the country from the outside world. Today, though, the doors stand open, and services for travellers are gradually being instituted so that visitors can enjoy an unrivalled look at the old-fashioned way of life of a country still largely unscathed by the harsh effects of mass tourism.
Laos gives you the opportunity to step back in time and see how South East Asia was hundreds of years ago. In the north Laos still has a sense of traditional living, giving you the impression that life hasn’t changed for generations, tourists willing to tackle the lack of modern infrastructure can discover charming towns and rural villages, endearing, friendly people, epic vistas, and a slow, relaxed pace of life.
