Many tourists, coming from each part of the world, spend their holidays in Tuscany (particularly in Florence), but always visit “the same places”, the most famous or well-known ones.

Florence has many other beauties. It isn’t only the Chatedral of Santa Maraia del Fiore, the Brunelleschi’s cupola or Palazzo Vecchio…

Please consider these suggestions to live a relaxing vacation in Tuscany, by discovering the most hidden aspects of Florence.

1. The “Certosa di Galluzzo”, also called “Florence Charterhouse” (Certosa di Firenze), is located on top of Monte Acuto and is an ancient Chartusian monastery. It is surrounded by green fields and old walls and includes numerous buildings such as a picture gallery and a cloister. To its renovations some of the greatest artists of the day contributed.

2.The “Basilic of San Miniato”, dating back to XI century, is located in one of the most high places of the town and is an excellent example of the Tuscan Romanic style. In the Chapel of the Cardinal of Portugal, you find one of the most beautiful Antonio Rosselino’s works. He achieved not only the Cardinal’s tomb but also all decorations of the funerary Chapel.

3. “Piazzale Michelangelo”. It’s very famous and appreciated by city dwellers and tourists because it permits to have a panoramic view above Florence. This square is dedicated to Michelangelo and houses some duplications of his masterpieces such as “David”.

4. The “Corsini garden”. This beautiful garden is part of an ancient property owned by Corsini family and called “Palazzo Corsini al Prato”. The garden is rich plants of different species and gives house to tortoises which live there long since. A little curiosity: here, you find the only piece of land in the centre of Florence, surrounded by high walls. It is a wide area rich in green field and secular linden tress.
